Fields of Gold, Rainbow Riches 500
|
Rainbow Riches is IGT's flagship video slot machine and the little Irish fella comes in a lot of different guises. This information is for the £500 jackpot machines found in arcades and bookies, and also the £10,000 jackpot versions found online. |
|
Rainbow Riches was one of Barcrests first random £500 jackpot machines. It's first incarnation had progressive pots and a price of play of £2 a spin, since then several changes in the law have taken place and he can now be found on £1 a spin, or less, and more recently, back to £2 a spin via £10 mega play on various terminals.
It has been tweaked and refined in the years since its original release, with additional features and new styles coming and going.
The Leprechaun doesn't have a name, but he does embark on many adventures, and he does have seasonal themes (should the operator pay for the upgrade!).
Rainbow Riches has found its way to many virtual casinos and gaming sites since its original launch.
This information has been written on the assumption that the machine is random. Should there be any change please refer back to these pages for an update. If you are not sure whether your version of the game is random, simply press the help button. This can not be overridden by the operators.
All three versions of Rainbow Riches have 20 win-lines and three different features, all the features are activated by achieving three of more of the same feature symbol anywhere in view:

All three versions of Rainbow Riches have 20 win-lines and three different features, all the features are activated by achieving three of more of the same feature symbol anywhere in view:
Wishing Wells: Generally these are the lowest value of all the features and have a higher probability of landing than the other feature games. The selection of the wishing wells is random, and all of the values displayed at the end of the feature were available.
3 wishing wells: Minimum of £2 up to a maximum of £25
4 wishing wells:
5 wishing wells: Maximum of £500 (always £500 on Fields of Gold).
Leprechauns: These are the most fun and offer the most varied amounts of money. Unlike the wishing wells, the jackpot is achievable with 3, 4, and 5 Leprechaun symbols. The value of the feature is determined at the start of the game, pressing the button is for the entertainment value only.
3 Leprechauns: Minimum £8 up to a maximum of £500
4 Leprechauns: Minimum £15 up to a maximum of £500
5 Leprechauns: Minimum £30 up to a maximum of £500
Pots of Gold: This is the holy grail of the feature games and can offer values from £50 up to £500. Depending on the version of the game you are playing, the value of the pots can be static or progressive. The selection of the pots is random, and is the true odds as those displayed on the screen. So you have a higher probability of hitting a bronze than a gold, but the odds are still favourable for a gold pot.
The value of the pots isn't predetermined and if it has recently paid out a gold pot, it doesn't mean it will not pay another one. The pots aren't won in any particular order and the value of the progressive pots doesn't make it any more or less likely that you will hit the pot. You should however, always play the machine with the highest value of the pots combined, not because it is more likely to come in, but because if it does come in, you will win more.

Mushrooms: This applies to Fields of Gold only. The mushroom feature on Fields of Gold generally offers wins around the £50 mark, but higher values are achievable with 4 of the bonus features. 5 mushroom bonus symbols automatically pays the jackpot.
The player must select a mushroom, this will then either have a cash value behind it or a fiery. Ideally you want to pick the fiery because these will then knock out some more mushrooms. You start the game with 3 picks, and if you do badly it may offer you an extra pick. If you clear the field with 1 or more picks spare, it will double your win which will be around the £100 mark.
Fields of Gold bonus feature: This feature acts the same as the Pots of Gold feature on the other versions of this game. It is a high value feature and can offer anything up to £500.
Themes: Some versions of the game have themes depending on the time of the year, so a Christmas type theme over the holiday period for example. These themes do not change the pay out or the profile of the game and are merely cosmetic.
Super Spins: The super spins are currently only available in the bookies. Selecting this option will up the stake from 92% to 94% and will charge you £10 for 5 spins.
These do play better on super spins, but that is because of the increased stake and increased percentage pay-out. Currently you are unable to gamble the wins if you take this type of play, but that is likely to change in the near future.
Gambling: Many versions offer the player a chance to gamble their winnings. This is a random gamble process and is independent of the initial win you achieved prior to getting the gamble. So, for example you can gamble 50p up to £500 which is possible, just highly improbable.
Stakes: Some versions of Rainbow Riches have dual stake 50p/£1. The lower stake decreases the value of the features and pays on 10 win-lines as opposed to the usual 20.
Percentage: The percentages should range from 90% up to 94%. If you play regularly you will notice a big difference in the way the same game plays on a different percentage. Always shop around for the higher percent.
